My Uncle Passed Away and Held my Hand

April 30, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

When I was much younger I lived in a bad part of a big city. Most of my family lived around the same area so we were always at each other’s houses and visited often. While at my great grandmas one day we heard a gunshot and went to the window. Looking around we could see somewhat of a chaotic scene and my other uncle running up the steps saying Jay had been shot. He was shot in the leg and when they got him inside the house waiting for the ambulance he asked to hold my hand. It was so hard to hold onto a loved one not knowing whether they’d be okay or not.

Magazines, Silly Scissors, and Markers

One of my newest forms of entertainment has been doing arts and crafts. I’ll find a cheap book full of blank pages but with a cute cover. I’ll then cut out magazines and letters and make each page a different theme. An example of me doing this is the theme “Love is never lost” I cut out a man running, a woman in distress, and then Mickey and Minnie mouse sharing a kiss and hug. It’s a great way to be creative and I have loved doing it ever since one of my new friends showed me her completed book.

Dressing Up

A lot of people make fun of those of us who choose to dress up our pets, but there are good reasons to outfit animals aside from vanity. Just as humans are sensitive to heat, cold, sun and wind – so are our furry friends. If you have a small breed or miniature dog, you likely already know this! These small dogs seem to get chilly very easily – especially if they are kept groomed in a short cut. Similarly, a near-shaved cut on almost any size dog can make them vulnerable to sunburn when exposed to UV rays for long periods. Lighter colored dogs seem to be affected the worst by sun damage. Rather than keeping Fluffy or Fido indoors during inclement weather – dog clothes are the most practical answer! Having a variety of weather-appropriate outwear for your pet not only keeps him or her the most comfortable and healthy, you may find your own time outdoors more enjoyable when you are not anxious, wondering if the day is too hot, or too cold for your beloved companion.

The Funniest Moment of my Life

The funniest moment of my life happened in a pizza place I was working at in high school. Sometimes when it was particularly slow we would all go outside and talk. My manager was a big smoker- I couldn’t even guess how many packs he smoked a day. As we were talking he threw his cigarette butt to the ground and suddenly we smelled something and looked down and his shoe lace was on fire. So he started stomping around trying to put it out while we all laughed uncontrollably. We still bring it up when we see each other.
